What Is Acupuncture

The theory and practice of acupuncture is based on Oriental Medicine (also known as traditional Chinese Medicine), a comprehensive natural health care system that has been used all over the world for many years to preserve health as well as to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness.
Acupuncture treats health conditions by stimulating “acu-points” found at specific locations on the surface of the body, which relate to certain organs and systems of the body. Acupuncturists stimulate the acu-points by inserting very thin needles through the skin to produce physiological effects. These effects include regulation of hormones, improvement of blood circulation, and balancing of the nervous system.

Chinese herbal medicine is a safe and effective adjunct to acupuncture treatments. The natural herbal formulas are individually designed to be appropriate for your specific constitution and presentation. Although acupuncture alone may provide enough stimulus to correct any possible imbalance, the utilization of herbal therapy may be quite helpful in some situations.
